Bishop James Johnson
Bishop James W. Johnson, Jr. is an anointed preacher and teacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ who operates in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the power of God. The Lord has used him to minister the gospel to souls in need in the US, Europe, and South America. He delivers the gospel with compassion and one objective: that every soul has the opportunity to make it to Heaven.
Bishop Johnson serves as the Pastor of Augusta Worship Center (AWC) and Presiding Bishop of the Southeast Jurisdiction of the Church of the Living God International, Inc. (CLGI). The SE region includes 5 districts and 18 churches located in GA, AL, TN, SC, and NC. He is also a member of the CLGI Board of Directors.
Bishop Johnson founded AWC on December 3, 2009. The church grew from a living room bible study and blossomed into a thriving church. Within 5 years, the congregation purchased the 12,000 square foot campus which is its current location. The Lord expanded the ministry using him to plant five additional churches in Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Prior to arriving in Georgia, Bishop Johnson served as pastor of Restoration, CLGI in Ahoskie, NC and associate minister for Gates of Heaven, CLGI in Hampton, VA. For over two decades, he’s traveled extensively in missions work in Europe and South America. He devoted much of his early years in the ministry developing youth to include cofounding a College Prep Program and teaching the gospel to at-risk youth at the Hampton Youth Detention Facility.
Bishop Johnson is a native of Little Rock, AR and a graduate of the prestigious US Air Force Academy which he afterwards served his nation as an Air Force Officer. He contributes greatly to local charities and is a member of the Board of Directors for the United Way of the CSRA providing resources to struggling families, veterans, and at-risk youth.
Bishop Johnson has enjoyed the ministry experience with the love of his life, Luv Johnson, and their wonderful children, Andrew and Lydia.
Through the grace of God and his leadership, AWC has become a thriving ministry and a place of grace for families in the Augusta area.
